Octomind shut down. Here's how to keep testing.

Octomind, the AI Playwright-test service, shut down in 2026. Its exports were plain Playwright code, so they still run; here is what to do next.

The short answer

Your exported Playwright tests still run without Octomind. If you want plain-English tests you own as files, we'll migrate your first 10 free.

Who Octomind is for

Octomind generated and maintained Playwright tests with AI and ran them in its cloud. If you used it, your exported tests are standard Playwright code and still run without it.

What's different

  • Octomind kept your runs, schedules and pull-request checks in its cloud; those stopped when the service did. Ours keep tests as files in your repo, so a shutdown can't take them.
  • Octomind's last published plans were $89 a month for 80 test cases and 240 cloud runs, and $589 for 300 tests and 1,800 runs (third-party coverage, below). A cloud run of ours is 2 cents for up to 20 tests.
  • We can't promise we'll outlive anyone. What we can promise is that nothing you build here depends on it: the engine is open source (MIT) and every website test exports as a Playwright spec.

When to pick Octomind

  • Nothing to pick: the service has ended. If you still have its exported Playwright suite, keep running it with npx playwright test; it needs nothing from Octomind.

When to pick Optestra

  • You want plain-English tests that you own as files, after a vendor shutdown taught you why.
  • You want to keep your Playwright specs and add English tests next to them (see the migration guide).
  • You want cloud runs at cents, with the engine open source so a shutdown can't strand you.
